5 Ways to Stay Active & Keep Your Blood Flowing Throughout Pregnancy

The past few weeks have been an emotional roller-coaster for me. I’ve had to step back a considerable amount of hours from work because of my health. The truth is, I’m not very good at admitting when I need help and when I need to take a break – and now I’m starting to see the effects. I haven’t been able to make it through my work days anymore, so during my yearly review I finally had the chance to swallow my pride and admit that I’m not doing very well and I need to take priority in my health. The problem with not working as much is that I’m…

Why I Decided to do a Quad Screen

My Second Trimester Check list is going down without a hitch – and we’re checking things off left and right! One of the things I recommended for all my fellow preggo mamas is that you talk to your doctor about all the tests you may have to do during the second trimester. When my OB approached me about the quad screen test, she was adamant that it was super important. But I still wanted to give it some thought. What Is A Quad Screen? The quad screen — also known as the quadruple marker test – is a prenatal test that measures levels of four substances in pregnant women’s blood:…

My Second Trimester Check List + 15 Things You Can Add to Yours

The second trimester has been so back and forth for me. Most women say that the second trimester makes you feel more energized and less nauseous…but that just isn’t true for me. Halfway There – Pregnancy Update

145 days. That’s how long I’ve been pregnant for. 20 weeks + 5 days today, which puts us only a few days over being halfway there. Crazy right? Time seems to be going by almost too quickly… Every mama I talk to always tells be how slow and dreadful their pregnancy is or was, but I can’t seem to relate to that at all. I mean sure, I’ve had some horrible – and I mean truly horrible – days, but I really can’t relate to the slow aspect of it at all. Each day seems to be quicker than the last. And while I’m super excited to meet my baby…

Why I’m Already Reading to My Baby

Ever since I can remember, I’ve always loved to read. I was taught to read and write at a very young age – and the passion has stuck with me since then. Reading has given me help to excel in so many aspects of my life, and I’m grateful that my mom took the time to make reading such a prime area in my life. Benefits of Reading to Your Unborn Baby While your baby grows in the womb, his or her brain development is still in progress and the neural connections form rapidly. Listen to mommy’s voice helps to strengthen said connections – and these can help him recall…

Old Wive’s Tales & Gender Tests Predict Baby’s Sex

Old Wive’s Tales have always interested me in some sort of way. Not that I particularly believe in them, but every myth has to start somewhere, right? Like how being in the rain without a coat supposedly makes you sick or that cracking your knuckles gives you arthritis: both are old wive’s tales that are no where near true. But today I want to focus on the part of old wive’s tales that try to predict the sex of the baby inside you! Reading some of them makes me wonder: could any of them be true? Or is it just a mere coincidence? I want to go through the most…
